  • Job Summary

    This art education professional will teach a graduate-level methods of visual arts course. This course takes place on weekends and weeknights in November and December in Arden Hills, Minnesota. This person will also supervise some of the visual arts teaching candidates during their student teaching placements.


    • Plan, teach, and assess a graduate-level art methods course once per year in November and December.
    • Travel to elementary, middle, and high schools to observe, mentor, and provide feedback to visual arts student teachers. Supervision takes place September through December, and February through May.
    • Attend occasional department meetings to collaborate with the program director and other faculty on curriculum, assessment, and program improvement.



    • Three years' experience teaching K-12 visual arts courses to K-12 students.
    • Knowledge of current K-12 teaching pedagogies is required; the ability to teach them to pre-service visual arts teachers.
    • Knowledge of current classroom management strategies in elementary, middle, and high school art classrooms.


    • Experience teaching and/or mentoring adult students.
    • Experience using a learning management system (such as Moodle).
    • Experience helping visual arts students with their edTPA.


    A master's degree in art education or equivalent is required; a doctorate in education or equivalent is preferred.


    Must hold or have held a K-12 visual arts teaching license (the license does not have to be current).
