Director of Choral Activities, Conductor of the Bethel Choir and the Bethel Festival Choir. Candidate must be committed to the liberal arts educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of Bethel University. Candidate must also be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and contribute to Bethel's anti-racism efforts and cross-cultural understanding.
Teach the equivalent of a full-time (seven-course) load per academic year. In addition to conducting the Bethel Choir and Festival Choir, the load could include conducting other choral ensembles, and teaching choral conducting and literature, music education methods, as well as a team-taught, interdisciplinary General Education course that includes music appreciation. General faculty responsibilities include student advising, as well as department and committee assignments.
Demonstrated accomplishment as a conductor, expertise in choral and vocal pedagogy, and skill in classroom teaching. Demonstrated success in recruiting and mentoring music students. Demonstrated collaborative and collegial spirit.
College conducting and teaching experience. Significant high school conducting experience may be considered. Active membership in ACDA and related organizations.
Ph.D. or DMA in choral conducting or music education with undergraduate degree in choral music education preferred.
Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
