    Conductor of the Bethel University orchestra program and Director of String Activities.


    Conductor duties include auditioning, programming, and conducting two Chamber and two Philharmonic concerts each year, as well as a Chamber Orchestra tour. Prepare, and conduct as needed, the Festival Orchestra for Festival of Christmas and Spring Classics concert. Recruit, develop, and coach Chamber Ensembles program. 


    Director of String Activities duties include supervising string teaching faculty, assigning teachers, leading string studio class, recruiting string students, assigning and supervising string scholarships. Teach String Methods and private lessons as appropriate for academic background and professional career. Team-teach in a multi-disciplinary General Education course that includes art, music, and theatre.


    Strong interpersonal skills in order to attract and retain student musicians in the orchestra program. Must possess thorough knowledge of the orchestral canon and be able to choose literature appropriate for the ability level of the students. Candidate must be committed to the liberal arts educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the University, and demonstrate commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to contribute to Bethel's anti-racism efforts and cross-cultural understanding.


    Proven track record of musical success as a performer as well as significant experience as a conductor required.


    Master's degree required; doctorate (in conducting, musical performance, or music education) preferred.

    Salary and rank commensurate with level of education and professional experience.
