Job Summary

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is seeking a candidate with strong teaching skills and an active research agenda to teach computer science and mathematics courses and mentor undergraduate students in the department.

Responsibilities

Teach the equivalent of a full seven-course load per year, including some combination of the following: Computer Architecture, Operating Systems, Security, Database Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Mining, and possible math courses, depending on specialties and departmental needs. Maintain an ongoing program of research, mentor and advise student research projects, and contribute to departmental programming.

 

General faculty responsibilities include undergraduate student advising and committee assignments. Expected of every faculty member is a strong commitment to the educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the university and to cultural diversity on campus.

Skills

Effective teaching of a broad range of standard undergraduate Math and Computer Science subjects, pursuit of an active research agenda, mentoring undergraduate students academically, personally, and spiritually, and strong relational skills.

Experience

Some teaching at the undergraduate level preferred.

Education

Ph.D. in Computer Science or Ph.D. in Mathematics with computing background. Masters in Computer Science with substantial industry experience will be considered.

Salary and rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
