Teaching responsibilities include clinical, laboratory, and/or theory courses working with students in the traditional baccalaureate nursing program. A clinical specialty with relevant clinical experience is necessary; clinical experience in medical/surgical nursing preferred. General faculty responsibilities include involvement in the activities of the department, for example, student advising, participation in teaching teams, and committees.
Candidate must be committed to the liberal arts educational mission and evangelical Christian orientation of the university and demonstrate commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring students, and scholarship. Candidate must demonstrate the ability to contribute to Bethel's anti-racism efforts and cross-cultural understanding.
Previous experience as a nurse educator in an academic setting or as a preceptor of students or new nursing employees would be an asset.
A master's degree in nursing is required, and significant progress toward completion of a doctoral degree is preferred. Candidates who have completed a doctorate or who anticipate completing a doctorate prior to tenure application (the fifth year of employment) may be placed in a tenure-track position and be eligible to apply for tenure. Other candidates will be placed in a renewable three-year term position. A clinical focus with practice in adult acute care settings is highly desirable. Current Minnesota RN licensure or eligibility required.
