Job Summary

Bethel University seeks an adjunct faculty member to serve as a Visual Arts K-12 Student Teaching Supervisor in our Master of Arts in Teaching program. This position offers a unique opportunity to mentor and guide teacher candidates during their student teaching experiences, supporting their growth as effective visual arts teachers. 

Responsibilities

  • Observe, evaluate, and mentor visual arts teacher candidates during their student teaching placements, following Bethel’s student teaching requirements.
  • Provide constructive, actionable feedback on planning, teaching, assessment, classroom management, and other requirements of a pre-service teacher.
  • Collaborate with K-12 schools and cooperating teachers to support teacher candidates’ success.
  • Attend program meetings and professional development sessions as required.
  • Write personalized, professional letters of recommendation for assigned teacher candidates upon program completion.

  • Ability to use Moodle, Google applications, Microsoft applications, Zoom, and other Bethel software applications

Experience

Required Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in education, visual arts, or a related field
  • Active or expired teaching license in K-12 visual arts
  • Minimum of three years of experience teaching K-12 visual arts
  • Must have a car so you can drive to/from schools (mileage is reimbursed)
  • Must have your own computer with high-speed Internet access
  • Flexible weekday work availability, September through May, with the ability to coordinate observations and meetings with K-12 school personnel 

Additional Information

Load will vary based on the needs of the department. This position pays $1,250 per load credit and compensation is based on student enrollment.
